Hunting is a sensitive topic for many people, for many reasons. It is interesting because it is seen as a crime, a hobby, as well as a horrible act of violence. The arguments are strongly opinionated on both sides, and the real facts can easily be muddled in the heat of the issue. In order to truly examine the good or bad nature of hunting it is vital that we look at the facts of the situation. Below are the pros and cons surrounding hunting in all lights.

The Pros of Hunting

1. Over Population Is A Problem
Advocates of hunting will always bring up the same thing, overpopulation. When areas of nature become too over populated with certain animals, like deer, the animals suffer from starvation. The animals also begin to migrate into neighborhoods and towns, which cause major problems. Hunting allows the population to be controlled in a regulated and safe way. This also prevents suffering from the animals, such as starvation.

2. Food and Other Materials
While some people hunt for a hobby, they still use the animal that they kill. The meat is processed and either sold or consumed by the family of the person who shot it. Depending on the animal, other parts are used as well. For example, deer skin and fur is used to make blankets and other things and bird’s can sometimes be used for their feathers. In this light, the animal’s life is not wasted, but is used for a purpose, which is what the root of hunting truly is.

3. It’s A Useful Tool To Have
Hunting involves spending large amounts of time outdoors tracking animals. This is an experience that many people cherish very much because it is fun as well as educational. Hunting provides you with great knowledge of the outdoors, how to properly and successfully track animals, and how to survive in the wild. These skills are invaluable and you never know when you may truly need them to survive or to help your family survive.

4. Control Is Key
While hunting may seem like an out of control issue, it is surely under control. There are countless federal regulations put in place for hunting. Each animal has a designated season, and anyone who wants to hunt them has to have the proper license and areas to hunt in. This ensures that the issue is only to control the population and won’t put the well fare of the species in any danger.

The Cons of Hunting

1. It Can Be Deadly
When you combine guns, fun, and alcohol things can get dangerous very quickly. The majority of people that hunt do it as a fun hobby with their friends. This typically involves drinking alcohol and hanging around. When people are drinking it is very dangerous to also be operating fire arms. There have been many cases of people being accidentally shot and injured, or even killed, while hunting.

2. Trophy Hunting Is Wrong
While some people hunt for food and resources, others do it for a completely different reason, the trophy. When someone shoots an animal for a trophy, it is because they want their head, and nothing more. Often times, the animal will be killed, the head will be removed, and the rest of the body will be left to rot. This is an awful practice and completely in humane to animals. The issue is even more of an issue when you talk about rare or exotic animals.

3. Animals May Suffer
Opponents of hunting strongly oppose the suffering that is inflicted upon the animals for this violent sport. More often than not, animals that are shot will not die instantly. They may even scamper off and hide. This causes a great deal of pain for the animals and causes them to die a very long and painful death that is unfair.

Important Facts About Hunting

According to recent studies, there are over 70 percent more female hunters than there where only five years ago.

This makes teenage girls the fastest growing demographics for shooting and hunting.

Theodore Roosevelt was one of the most well known hunters in history. He created the wildlife parks for the purpose of controlled hunting.

There are over one billion hunting bullets sold every year in America.

One of the most heated and debated issues in today’s world is that of gun control. There have been high numbers of deaths involving fire arms in the United States, and people are beginning to take a stand against the violence and look for ways to solve the problems. Gun control is inflicting stricter and more harsh regulations on owning and carrying fire arms, which many people believe is the answer. However, arguers believe that the right to have guns is part of every American’s constitutional rights.

The Pros of Gun Control

1. Lower The Amount Of Gun Related Deaths
As of today, it is fairly easy to get your hands on a fire arm. If the laws and regulations where made to be much stricter and more regulated, then the amount of people who die from gun violence could possibly go down drastically. Having to jump through a bunch of hoops will likely deter anyone looking to obtain a weapon to commit a crime.

2. They’re Rarely For Self Defense
There are hundreds of thousand assaults that occur each and every year, however, out of all of these cases less than one percent of people used a gun to defend themselves. The reason that someone owns a gun may be out of self defense, but it is much too often used for other things, like crimes.

3. Majority Of Mass Murders Use Legal Weapons
Large capacity magazines, fast shooting guns, and things like silencers make it all too easy for someone to inflict large amounts of damage to big groups of people. This causes horrible devastation, and many people believe that it can be avoided if gun control was more strict.

4. Less Suicides
The big majority of suicides that occur in the United States are done with a gun. These guns are legally bought and owned. If there is a much longer waiting period for purchasing weapons, and a more thorough check, then many of these suicides can be successfully avoided.

The Cons of Gun Control

1. Criminals Will Break The Law
Illegal guns are a huge trade and business in the United States. Even if gun control laws where made much more strict, these criminals would still be able to obtain illegal weapons and use them to inflict harm and commit violent crimes. The only difference would be that the people who are not criminals would not have the ability to defend themselves.

2. Takes Power From The People
It is a constitutional right to be able to have weapons to defend yourself, including guns. While some restrictions should certainly be in place, if the government is given too much power over these types of things it would be easier for them to attempt to take all guns from citizens. This would leave the citizens open to abuse from the government, and leave them vulnerable for a fully police state.

3. Education Is The Answer
More harsh gun control laws are not needed. What is needed, however, is a greater focus on education about firearms. We should teach people from an early age the damage that they can do, how to properly and safely use them, and the steps to take to make sure that they are safely used and stored. Education is the key.

4. Helps Deter Crime
The biggest goal is to help lower the rate of crimes that take place, which gun control laws will not do at all. Rather than not allowing regular, law abiding people to own guns. If a criminal knows that a person has a gun, they are much less likely to attempt a crime. If criminals know that people no longer have guns, then the crime rates would greatly increase.

5. Creates Hostility
In today’s society, there is already quite a bit of animosity between the people and the government. The government is trying to obtain too much power over the personal choices of citizens. By creating more gun control laws, this hostility is sure to rise. When tension mounts, it will eventually erupt in the most unpleasant of ways.

Important Facts About Gun Control

Over 80 percent of all gun owners said that owning a gun makes them feel much safer in their home.

Some of the countries with the strictest gun control laws, such as Mexico, have the highest levels of crime.

A woman’s chances of being killed is increased 5 times if there is a gun present during a domestic issue.

There are currently 270 million registered firearms owned in the United States.

Genetically modified foods are a topic that is sweeping the entire world. None more than the golden rice controversy, however. Golden rice is rice that has been modified to contain many different nutrients and minerals that rice naturally doesn’t have. Many countries, such as Vietnam and India, rely very heavily on rice as part of their daily food, which was causing problems of malnutrition to be very apparent. The developers and supporters of golden rice believe that this is the answer to these countries problems. However, the true effects of consumption of golden rice have not been fully researched, along with most GMO food products, and have other problems surrounding it.

The Pros of Golden Rice

1. Supplies Nutrition
The biggest advantage that golden rice supplies is the simple fact that it provides much needed nutrition to people who would other wise not be able to obtain it. Normal rice lacks many of the vitamins needed for good health, including vitamin A. If a vitamin A deficiency is severe enough it can lead to blindness, fatigue, and even death.

2. Illness Is An Economic Burden
Vitamin deficiencies cause hundreds of thousands of illnesses and deaths each and every year in developing countries. This causes a major economic burden because of the over crowded hospitals and lack of healthy people to work. Golden rice helps to ease these problems and enrich the country being affected.

3. Reduces Gastrointestinal Problems
Another major problem that plagues developing countries is stomach and digestion issues. This has to do with the types of food that they eat and what they contain. Golden rice is specially formulated to ease these problems and even help prevent diseases from forming.

4. Reduced Pesticide Use
Golden rice has pesticides put directly into them, which alleviate the need for them to be continuously sprayed on the crops as they grow. This improves the health of the food and these benefits can also spread to the surrounding crops, reducing the use of pesticides on even more food.

The Cons of Golden Rice

1. Over Regulations Means Higher Prices
Golden rice, at it’s core, is relatively cheap and easy to obtain. However, the government has put so many different regulations onto this food source that the additional testing that has to be done has driven the price up quite a bit.

2. Is It Really Enough?
Many researchers have come out to say that the minimal nutrient that golden rice does supply, is not nearly enough to combat the issues that it claims it can. It takes a whole lot of education and money to turn around malnutrition issues as big as some of these countries are enduring.

3. Wasted Money
There have been millions upon millions of dollars put into the development, research, and production of golden rice. Critics argue that this money would be much better spent on education the people of these countries, implementing farming and medical programs, and giving them more resources to take care of themselves. Golden rice is another way for these developing countries to further rely on the aid of developed nations.

Important Facts About Golden Rice

Bangladesh is the leading country in rice consumption, followed by Cambodia and Vietnam.

Golden rice was first developed in the year 2000.

The first human trial with golden rice was done in the year 2004.

Scientists in Switzerland created the first version, and later, other scientists created an improved version that we know today as golden rice.

This rice is literally golden, and has an orange color, which comes from the beta carotene inserted into it.

Gene therapy is a relatively new process in the medical world that involves replacing mutated, damaged, or defective genes with healthy and normal functioning ones. This is done by replacing the proteins in the DNA with new ones, which can only be done on proteins that have had their structure been researched and discovered. A wide variety of illnesses can be treated in this way, making it a very exciting leader in medical technology that is available today. However, it is a highly controversial practice that has been under much debate and is still not widely used, let’s explore why.

The Pros of Gene Therapy

1. Major Potential
Gene therapy has some major potential when it comes to treating and, even possibly, curing genetic diseases that have been very poorly understood. If gene therapy where to begin being used for this purpose, it would be a wonderful thing and help millions of people who are suffering.

2. A Continuing Cure
Genetic diseases and disorders are often passed onto people’s children because they are given the same types of dysfunctional genes that their parents have. With gene therapy, it is highly possible that when an adult is cured of a disease because of new genes that have been put in place, these new genes would transfer down to their children as well. This could essentially eradicate many diseases over time.

3. Little Risk of Mutation
Unlike many other types of cellular treatments, gene therapy has a very low risk of the genes that are used mutating. This is because they are not necessarily “new” genes, but simply duplicate of genes that we already have within our body.

The Cons of Gene Therapy

1. Could Change Human Capabilities
One of the biggest ethical issues that is associated with gene therapy is that it has the possibility of modifying what humans are naturally capable of. They could begin to make people change their idea of what the norm for our lives are. Once these ideals are altered, they are altered for good.

2. Only For The Rich
Gene therapies are highly expensive, and it doesn’t look like that fact will change anytime soon. This means that only people who are very wealthy would be able to afford this type of treatment for disease. Eventually, only the poor will be left struggling and the wealthy will have been able to create a “super race” of people who are superior to others. This would cause a dramatic social gap in the world.

3. Ethical Issues
Like any type of practice that involves changing the true structure of a human being, it is viewed as “playing God”. Many people believe that diving into this sort of medicine is a slippery slop that could lead to even more invasive types of things being performed, such as human cloning. This is one of the biggest hurdles that gene therapy is going to face, because the controversy will not be going anywhere soon and funding will be compromised.

Important Facts About Gene Therapy

The idea and process of gene therapy was first invented in 1972, however, has still had very limited trial in human cases.

There are currently two different types of gene therapy. These are Somatic gene therapy and Germline gene therapy.

Some of the most promising uses for gene therapy is to treat cystic fibrosis and muscular dystrophy.

The biggest challenge with gene therapy is that it is difficult to ensure that the gene reaches the correct cells in the body.

Earlier this year a historical decision was made by the United States Supreme Court to legalize same sex marriages in every single state in America. While many believed that this was a step that should have been taken many years ago, other believe that this will have a very negative impact on many different aspects of society in the country. In order to gain a better understanding of the issues surrounding gay marriage, we need to take a look at the issue from both sides of the fence.

The Pros of Gay Marriage

1. Not Allowing It Is Discrimination
When the government begins to take such bold stances on things such as marriage, they are really taking a stand against discrimination of a person for any reason. Having basic rights, like to marry the person you love, is part of the constitution that this country was built on, and the government has no right to decide who it pertains to and who it does not.

2. Equal Benefits For All
When you get married, you get to enjoy certain benefits that you cannot otherwise. Some of these include tax breaks, insurance benefits, and beneficiary rights. If a gay couple could not marry, then they could also not get the rights that they are entitled to by being in a long term committed relationship. This was one of the biggest focuses of the equal love campaign surrounding the gay marriage decision.

3. Love Is Love
The government has no right to decide whose love is legal and whose is not. Gay marriage is simply the marriage between two people who love each other in the same way that a man and a woman who wish to get married do. Gay marriage is simply a celebration of love, which everyone deserves to be able to have.

4. Religion Is The Issue
The majority of arguments that come out against gay marriage are purely, or largely, religious ones. Religion has never been allowed to dictate the rights of all people in America, and this should stay true for gay rights as well.

5. Views Are Changing
The taboo surrounding being gay are beginning to dissolve and people are coming into a new age way of thinking. Gay marriage is truly hurting no one, and people are beginning to see and understand this.

The Cons of Gay Marriage

1. Where Is The Line Drawn?
Marriage has historically been defined as a bond between a man and woman, when you try venture away from the value, many things can happen. By legalizing gay marriage, which is viewed as an non traditional relationship, other types of relationships may begin seeking legal rights. One example of this is polygamy, which is when a man or woman takes on multiple wives/husbands.

2. Religiously Sacred
Marriage is a religious term, used to define a relationship between a man, woman, and God. The majority of opponents of gay marriage believe that allowing gay couples to be legally married goes against the true meaning of what a marriage is and supposed to be.

3. Procreation Is The Purpose
The entire mission of being on this planet is to procreate and expand the population. This is ideally, what marriage is for. To create a stable environment to bring children into the world, and pass on good values to better the future. Gay couples do not have the ability to procreate, which is why many people believe that the marriage is invalid and wrong.

4. It Confuses The Children
Children are always looking around them and questioning the world that they live in. It can be extremely confusing for a child to see homosexual couples together, or with a child. The message that it is okay or normal to be in a gay relationship can be one that harms the values and morals that parents are trying to instill in their children. This also causes the topic of reproduction to be brought up at a much younger age.

Important Facts About Gay Marriage

The first legal same sex marriage happened in 2004 in Massachusetts.

The United States became the 21 st country to fully legalize gay marriage in the world.

Netherlands was the first country to do so, in 2001.

American support for gay marriage rose to 57 percent from a mere 30 percent between 2010 and 2015.

Free trade is a type of policy that two or more countries agree upon. It greatly relaxes the boundaries between the countries when it comes to trading and taxes, which is seen as a huge benefit to everyone involved. One great example of this is NAFTA, or the North American Free Trade Agreement, which has shown it’s own good and bad effects among the countries involved. Is free trade a truly beneficial thing, or are there some significant consequences that should be thoroughly examined? Let’s take an in depth look at the effects that a free trade agreement can have.

The Pros of Free Trade

1. It Drives Prices Down
With a free trade agreement, there is no longer large tariffs and taxes that have to be paid on imported goods. This means that many items can be bought for a much cheaper price then they would have normally been available. This benefits the entire economy because it gives more value to the dollar and provides the people much more buying power.

2. Working Together Is Safer
When countries become somewhat dependent, or rely upon, another country for goods that they produce, it can create a feeling of team work. The countries are more focused on keeping the relationship good and each others economy strong because if one begins to fail, it affects everyone.

3. A Greater Variety
Without a free trade agreement, the variety of products that are available in a country can be very limited. By allowing free trade to occur, you open up markets for entirely new products that citizens can enjoy. This also brings new cultural types of things to places where they may have not existed before.

4. A Creation of Jobs
When trade is opened among countries, this also typically means that new businesses and companies will begin to emerge. This brings in great amounts of jobs and opportunities for people that live in these countries.

The Cons of Free Trade

1. Increased Competition
While prices are dropped, the price of labor is also dropped too. This is because it allows people to transfer careers, making it more and more difficult to get a job. There are now people from two different countries going for the same job, which makes people be willing to work for less.

2. Harms Developing Countries
Some countries only have limited forms of profit. When free trade is implemented, other countries may be able to offer the same product at much cheaper than the developing country would be able to. This causes even more economic hardship.

3. Small Business Can’t Compete
Whenever you allow global leaders of production to come into a country and offer products at lower prices, the small businesses in the area cannot compete. This has been a growing problem in many countries for quite some time now. Big businesses come in and run out the small mom and pop shops that build up the economy.

4. Developing Dependency
One of the biggest issues that free trade can bring is a level of dependency on other countries. When a country begins to rely and depend on another country for some of their vital items, they no longer feel the need to manufacture them themselves.

Important Facts About Free Trade

One of the most known free trade policies to go into effect is NAFTA, which stands for North American Free Trade Agreement.

Developed nations dominate the trade world on a global scale. They export and import over 75 percent of all goods in the world.

Free trade costs poor countries over 50 billion dollars of agricultural business.

One free trade agreement that is in the works is the Trans-Pacific Partnership, or TPP.

Hydraulic fracturing, which is most commonly referred to as fracking, is a controversial process used to extract natural gases from within the earth. This is done by drilling a hole deep down into the earth’s surface and then pumping in a mixture of water and chemicals at extremely high pressures to release the gases. Fracking is a process that has been practiced for nearly 70 years, and is the most efficient way that we know of the extract and utilize the natural resources that are only found within the Earth. While it creates some pretty extensive benefits, it also causes irreversible damage that cannot be overlooked. Let’s explore further into the world of fracking and see how the pros and cons weigh out.

The Pros of Fracking

1. Reduces the Cost of Fuel
Since the fracking process is so efficient at what it does, it also greatly lowers the amount that is paid for the fuel. The wells pump out so much fuel each and every day that fracking alone could sustain the energy needs on our planet for nearly two hundred years.

2. Lower Emissions When Burning
When you compare the natural gases that are extracted by fracking to other types of fuel sources, it comes out on top nearly every time. Other fuels, like coal, burn very dirty and cause damage and pollution to our atmosphere. Natural gases produce a much lower carbon emission, and is the better option in the long run.

3. Creates a Wealth of Jobs
Fracking is a humongous business, and this means that it brings in humongous amount of jobs. Not only is there an abundance of jobs in this industry, they also pay exceedingly well when compared to other jobs that can be obtained with the same level of education and skill sets. Many people see this as the best things about the practice, it benefits the communities as well as the economy.

4. Energy Independence
The biggest sign of a country’s power is how much fuel and energy resources they own and control. Countries who do not produce enough fuel and energy to sustain themselves are energy dependent, which means that you are at the mercy of other countries. Fracking is giving the United States the ability to one day become energy independent. The gases that are obtained through fracking would be able to sustain the country until other forms of energy are more obtainable and perfected, such as solar power. This would be a huge step for the country as a whole.

The Cons of Fracking

1. Chemicals Galore
Over 600 different chemicals have been proven to be effective in the fracking process. For each and every “job” up to 10 of these chemicals are mixed together and pumped into the ground at an alarming rate. This raises quite a bit of concern for the surrounding areas and the workers who are directly involved with the process. Some of the chemicals that have been identified are very toxic, such as formaldehyde. Another concerning fact about the chemicals that are used is that the large majority of them are a well kept secret, causing eyebrows to raise even higher.

2. Things Go Wrong
When the wells are drilled, they can be fracked multiple times in order to ensure that every single drop of gas has been obtained. After the first time a well has been pumped, the dangers of leaks rises. When these wells leak, all of the fore mentioned chemicals leak into the air, land, and water sources. The chemicals also cause damage to the health of the people working near by and the animals or plants on surrounding land.

3. Leaves the Land Desolate
It doesn’t matter where it is, the best spots for fracking will be obtained and destroyed. This could be a family farm, forest, or literally anywhere. They will come in and get that land from you and ruin it forever. After all of the chemicals are pumped into the ground, nothing can grow, nothing is sustained any further. Animals can no longer thrive there because there is nothing to graze on. If this continues, all of the areas that are ideal for fracking will be used for fracking and nothing more.

4. The Pollution Doesn’t End
Pollution is a word that describes every aspect of what fracking is. Not only is the climate being polluted from the burning of the natural gases that are extracted, the generators that are used to pump the water and fuel the drills, and the chemicals that are put into the air and the land, but one other big things causes massive pollution and issues. For each well that is being fracked, over 6 million gallons of water is used. Where does this water come from you ask? It gets shipped in on an endless caravan of tanker trucks. For a single well, well over 2,000 trips must be made to bring in the water. Large trucks are on of the biggest causes of pollution that we know of, besides large operations. The trips must also be made to pump out the waste water and bring it out. It is truly disgusting the damage that this does.

5. The Employees Suffer
A multitude of health problems have been directly attributed to exposure to the chemicals used when fracking. The people who man these operations often suffer from random and in explainable nosebleeds, migraines, and even cancer. All of these have been positively attributed to the work done on fracking facilities.

Important Facts About Fracking

A fracking job is completed within 6 to 8 months.

Over the next two years, fracking will provide over half of the United State’s energy supply.

The fracking industry is worth 37 billion dollars and is continually growing.

Foreign aid is something that has caused quite the debate in the world. If you saw your neighbor in need of something vital, such as food, would you give it to them? This is the idea of foreign aid. One country helping another with food, money, medical supplies, or any other resource that they are in dire need of. Many people argue that giving large amounts of foreign aid takes away from the people in the same country who need it and causes economic stress. Others, however, believe that it is something that has been practiced forever and helps to build meaningful relationships. Let’s look at all of the possible good and bad effects that providing foreign aid to a country could result.

The Pros of Foreign Aid

1. A Little Bit Can Go A Long Way
The aid that is given to a country, helps the country to get back on it’s feet. Many times they are able to take the resources loaned to them, and multiply them by quite a bit. This is beneficial for the country in many ways, as well as for the country that aided them.

2. It’s Just Right
If you saw people that where in need you would help them, not just the people residing in your house. This same idea goes for countries as well. To an extent, all countries should be willing to help each other with major problems. In the end, it is not just the country you are helping, but human beings.

3. Your Scratch Their Back, They’ll Scratch Yours
No matter how successful or established a country is, a time could come at any time when they are in need of help. When you help other countries in the form of foreign aid you are bettering your chances of them helping you in the future when you are in need.

4. Better Citizen Relations
When countries are open and willing to help each other, it isn’t just the government that takes notice, but the people that live in them as well. When this happens, the citizens of other countries are humanized and relationships begin to build. This is a beautiful thing that strengthens the harmony among all humans.

5. It’s a Small Piece of the Pie
When you really look at it, the majority of countries only give foreign aid that is equal to less than one percent of their entire year’s budget. This is a very small price to pay to help people that are in need.

The Cons of Foreign Aid

1. Results in Dependency
There is an old saying: “If you give a man a fish, he’ll eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he’ll eats for a lifetime.” Running to the rescue of countries that are in trouble may help them in the short term, but in the long run, it can cause quite the air of dependency. The country needs to be given aid in the form of knowledge and information rather than tangible supplies like money.

2. It Could Be Used At Home
When there are internal problems within a country, it isn’t a good idea to give resources to other countries. People within the country who the resources truly belong to could often use it much more than the country that it is being given to. This causes a mistrust of the government and sense of bitterness among people who are still struggling.

3. Come Back To Bite You
You never know the true intentions of a country, which is why providing foreign aid can be very dangerous. The person who the aid is being given to is left in debt to the country that helped them, which may leave them vulnerable for exploitation. The country that is providing the aid is left susceptible to a country that they helped to strengthen.

Important Facts About Foreign Aid

Middle eastern countries, such as Afghanistan and Iraq, are given the most aid from the United States.

Norway, Sweden, and Denmark give the largest percentage of their national income to foreign aid.

Japan provides 285,000 dollars of aid each year, while the United States gives over 30 trillion dollars of aid.

People’s lives in today’s world seem to always be on the go. The world is busier than every, and we are developing things to help fill the needs that come along with the hustle and bustle. Eating is one of these. Fast food has been growing rapidly in popularity over the past couple decades, just about 25% of Americans consume some form of fast food everyday! Fast food is, well, fast. Along with being lightning speed meals, it is also very tasty, so how could it be a bad thing? With obesity on the rise and the true nutritional values that these combo meals hold, it is about time we take a really close look at what makes fast food so great, and what makes it so horrible.

The Advantages of Fast Food

1. Quick and Convenient
Fast food restaurants have the quick meal down to an art. You can pick up dinner for yourself or your entire family in less than 10 minutes. This is a huge benefit for busy people that do not have the time to take out for all the work and preparation involved in home cooked meals.

2. Great Tasting
Who can resist the taste of a hot cheeseburger, or fresh french fries? Fast food tastes good, there is no debate on that. Many people would not be able to produce a dish themselves that they enjoy as much as a meal from their favorite fast food chain.

3. Cost Efficient
You are not just saving time when you choose fast food for a meal, you will most likely be saving money as well. Full sized meals, complete with a nice sugary drink, can be bought for only a few dollars. For small, or single person, households this is definitely cheaper than all of the costs involved in home cooking.

4. Healthy Options Are Often Available
While not all fast food chains have joined the “light” side, many have. Entree options like salads, chicken wraps, and baked potatoes are becoming more and more common in these restaurants.

The Disadvantages of Fast Food

1. Health Hazard
Fast food is considered junk food. This means that it is very high in fat and sugar and very low in vitamins or protein. Consuming fast food too often can result in weight gain, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular problems.

2. Product Of A Lifestyle
A large majority of people who consume fast food meals on a regular basis, live a sedentary lifestyle and do not go on to burn off these calories. The fast food doesn’t provide a high amount of energy and often make people feel “sluggish”, thus further adding to the sedentary life that these people are living. It is a vicious and damaging cycle.

3. Excessive Portions
The sheer amount of food that is given in a normal sized meal at a fast food restaurant is mind boggling. They are encouraging people to eat much more than they need to, and they are. This is one of the biggest causes of the obesity epidemic happening in our country.

4. Hinders Life Skills
A young person who is living on their own most likely doesn’t have a large wealth of skills in the cooking department, which is why they turn to fast food. If they continue to depend on the fast food meals that they are used to, then they will never develop the skills they need to feed themselves in a nutritious way.

Important Facts About Fast Food

Nearly 6 billions dollars are spent on fast food advertising each year.

1 in 4 Americans visit a fast food restaurant every day!

The very first Ronald McDonald was fired for being too large.

Nutritionists only recommended eating fast food once a month, if that.

A single patty from a fast food burger can contain meat from up to 100 different cows.

Grill marks are placed on the patty at the factory before it ever hits the grill.

Eyelash extensions are the new craze in the beauty world that has been sweeping the world. This is the process of placing longer and more full eyelashes directly onto the eyelid. They are designed to look natural and blend with your own lashes, however they extend the length and make your lashes look much fuller. Eyelashes are an important part of the face, they frame the eyes and really make them pop. Women have been mimicking eyelash extensions for decades by applying false eyelashes on. However, unlike false eyelashes, eyelash extensions do not have to be applied everyday and are on your eyes for an extended period of time. Since they are around the eyes, many people are wondering just how safe and effective this new beauty trend truly is.

The Pros of Eyelash Extensions

1. They Look Fabulous
The biggest reward that comes from getting eyelash extensions is exactly what they are made for, to look great! Your long full lashes are sure to draw attention to your eyes and make them look extra great. You will feel flirty and sexy even walking around in your sweatpants.

2. No More Mascara
Another great thing about these extensions is that you don’t have to, well actually you aren’t supposed to, wear mascara at all while you have them. They are already fully fanned out and gorgeous, so you don’t have to add the mascara to make them look good. This saves you money and time when getting ready to hit the town.

3. They’re Convenient
When you want to add the extra drama to your eyelashes, you normally have to go through the annoying process of putting on fake eyelashes. These eyelashes can be tricky to put on, and on top of everything, they seem to always fall off at the most horrible of times. Eyelash extensions, while they take a little while to get put on, will stay on if you take care of them correctly. You no longer have to mess with the sticky glue that never seems to get tacky fast enough and the unruly lashes.

The Cons of Eyelash Extensions

1. Application is a Pain
It takes quite a long time to get eyelash extensions put onto your eyelids correctly. Anywhere from 1 to 3 hours is required to put them on, which can be extremely uncomfortable for some people because of how closely the technicians are working to your eyes.

2. It’s Very Expensive
While fake eyelashes and all of the tools that you need to apply them can add up pretty quickly, eyelash extensions are most definitely more costly. Depending on how many you are looking to get and the quality of the lashes, they can cost anywhere between one hundred and five hundred dollars.

3. Upkeep Is Real
While they may look great, is certainly isn’t an effortless beauty. You are not able to do much with the eyelashes, including wearing mascara or any other type of oil based makeup products. Eyelash extensions also come with a kit that you have to use to clean the lashes daily, and even a blow dryer that you have to use so that they do not dry criss crossed.

4. They Aren’t Permanent
While they look wonderful, it won’t last, and when they do begin to fall out they tend to take your real lashes with them. This can leave your eyelashes looking even more shanty then they did before. This is one of the biggest problems surrounding eyelash extensions.

Important Facts About Eyelash Extensions

There are three different types of lash extensions currently available. They are Synthetic, silk, and mink.

You can get your lashes anywhere from 6mm to 19mm long.

Eyelash extensions require regular touch ups every 3 weeks.

During the first 48 hours after you get your lashes you cannot get them wet at all. This includes in the shower, sweating, or even crying.
